Thing # 9 Useful Library Blogs

I looked at the research engines for the blogs and found it all to be a little overwhelming. I didn't know where to go. I did not care for the Syndic8 due to just coming across it I found that there was just way too much information on a page and just overwhelming that who has the time to read all the information and with tiny print.

However, I did like to edublogawards site. I found a few useful sites including one on a great Q and U idea for the classroom but unfortuatly she no longer blogs. However, overall I did like this because I was able to find alot of other useful blogs that I could follow and learn from.

The RSS and google reader is hard to navigate. I had trouble getting some of the sites in my subscription list. I read a couple of the other blogs and news feeds but I couldn't figure out how to make them appear. After I subscribed it was a little easier. Finally I discovered that you could just type in what you would want to research and then items would appear and then you could just hit subscribe and it would paste it onto your list to be added.

It may shorten your time on looking onto the web so that you can navigate right to a page you would want but, I do not really see the reason why I would use this in my classroom for first graders.

I however could see the administrators using it to post for parents to better acknowledge them in particular areas.

I really enjoyed researching the different Google tools that I can use and share.
The two that I found really interesting was the Google Calendar and Google Document. These are of course not ones that I would use with my students but I would definatly use them with my team. I sometimes come across documents that they could use and forget to let them know about it and this would be a much easier way to share without my 41 year old self trying to remember. The same thing goes with the calendar. I am one that forgets alot and always needs reminding of when things are due or are when things are coming up.

This was so much fun and I can really see how I can use this. I first started out using George Washington as a trading card but using my own child just got my interest going even more and the excitement was unbelievable. I cannot wait to show my students all that they can do with this.

Well, this was quit interesting. I can see how this will be a great thing to have not only for my class, parents but also something to share with friends throughout the district. However, trying to ask friends to join your flicker account took what seemed forever to do. Not only for me asking someone to join, but also them finding me and joining. But I'm sure if I was sitting with my team it would be a much easier task than just with one person that way I would have more addresses at hand.

The hardest thing that I found about setting up my blog would be the navigating between the instructions and the actual blog itself. However, I cannot wait to use this with my students this coming year along with being able to expand their knowledge with more technology.
